KARAM Safety MIC02 Micron Block is a compact, ultra-lightweight 2-metre self-retracting lifeline (SRL) engineered for fall arrest in scenarios where anchor points are located at or near foot level — a working condition where conventional lanyards provide inadequate protection. As part of KARAM’s industry-leading retractable fall arrester range, the MIC02 features a patented internal mechanism that sets it apart from standard retractable blocks in both performance and reliability.
The MIC02’s automatic quick fall arrest mechanism locks and arrests a fall in less than 600mm of fall distance, with a maximum arrest force of less than 4kN — well within the 6kN limit required by international fall protection standards. This near-instantaneous locking response provides critical additional protection at low working heights where conventional lanyards would allow dangerous fall distances before arrest. The MIC02 is tested and passes both the demanding fall factor 2 dynamic performance test and the sharp edge test — certifications that confirm its suitability for complex and hazardous working-at-height scenarios.
The aluminium swivel quarter-turn locking bulb hook (PN130) at the attachment end incorporates an impact indicator that visually signals if the device has been subjected to a fall arrest event — an essential safety and inspection feature that ensures the device is inspected and recertified or replaced after activation. The swivel design prevents rope twist during movement and use.
The high-strength aluminium housing keeps the MIC02 extremely light, reducing fatigue for workers who wear fall protection equipment throughout the working day. Suitable for direct connection to most KARAM full body harnesses as a lanyard replacement, the MIC02 is ideal for construction, rope access, confined space entry, and maintenance operations across the UAE, GCC, and MENA region.
